It is dedicated to educating its students and has served students at St. John, Schererville and Dyer for over 50 years, with an emphasis on academic excellence and achievement. Since 1966, it has served students in St, John and Sconeerville / Dyers, focusing on guiding them to self-determined learners and contributions.

St. John's Middle School opened in 2008 and teaches Year 9-12 students in Cedar Lake, Hanover, Mid Center and Sconeerville / Dyer. St. John's and the Middle Schools have enrolled more than 1,000 students from St. John, Schererville and Dyers since they opened in 2010. It has enrolled students of all ages from grades 10 to 14 in the Cedar Lake area and in the center of the city.
